OwlGuardian Terms and Conditions

Last updated: June 3, 2026

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of OwlGuardian ("we", "our", "the service"), an email security service operated by E.D. Doubleboo, Inc., a California corporation. By using OwlGuardian, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. The Service

OwlGuardian is an email security service that protects vulnerable individuals from phishing, fraud, and social engineering by analyzing incoming emails and alerting a designated trusted contact when threats are detected. The service is delivered through the OwlGuardian iOS app and the OwlGuardian web console at owlguardian.net.

OwlGuardian is offered as a subscription service. The monitored user — the person whose email is protected — is the account holder and subscriber, and the subscription is billed through their Apple App Store account (see Section 5). A trusted contact is a person designated to review emails that OwlGuardian flags and to receive alerts; a trusted contact may help set up the service but is not charged for it. Both the monitored user and the trusted contact consent to participation during the account setup flow described in our Privacy Policy.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

3. SMS Program Terms

Program name

OwlGuardian Account Verification and Notifications

Program description

OwlGuardian sends SMS text messages to users who have explicitly consented during account setup. Messages are transactional in nature and include:

OwlGuardian does not send marketing, promotional, or advertising messages via SMS.

Message and data rates

Message and data rates may apply. Charges for receiving OwlGuardian SMS messages are assessed by your mobile carrier according to your plan. OwlGuardian does not charge for sending or receiving text messages.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on account activity. Typical volume is 1–4 messages per month for active accounts.

How to opt in

You opt in to the SMS program during OwlGuardian's account setup flow, either through the OwlGuardian iOS app or at owlguardian.net/signup. At that time, you will see and affirmatively agree to the following language:

"I agree to receive text messages from OwlGuardian for account verification, security alerts, and account notifications. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."

Each person who receives texts opts in for their own number: on the screen where they enter their phone number, they check this consent box before any verification code is sent. No SMS is sent to a number until its owner has personally checked the consent box.

How to opt out

You can stop all SMS from OwlGuardian at any time by replying STOP to any OwlGuardian text message. After you reply STOP:

How to get help

Reply HELP to any OwlGuardian text message for assistance, or contact us directly at support@owlguardian.net.

Supported carriers

OwlGuardian's SMS program is compatible with all major US wireless carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint (now part of T-Mobile), as well as smaller regional and MVNO carriers. Carrier support for message delivery is not guaranteed; OwlGuardian is not responsible for messages that a carrier fails to deliver.

Data privacy

Phone numbers and SMS consent information are used solely for operating the OwlGuardian service and are not shared with third parties, affiliates, or any external entities for marketing, advertising, or any other purpose. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Fair use and usage limits. OwlGuardian is built for normal personal email use. To keep the service sustainable and guard against accidental misuse or intentional abuse, each account has a reasonable monthly usage limit. In the rare event that an account's activity is far beyond typical personal use, automated scanning for that account may be temporarily paused for the remainder of the month. As the limit is approached, we will notify the trusted contact. If your account is paused, contact us at support@owlguardian.net and we'll review it and restore protection.

5. Subscription, Billing, and Cancellation

OwlGuardian is offered as a paid subscription through the Apple App Store. Pricing, billing cycles, and cancellation terms are governed by the App Store. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID subscription settings.

Revocation of monitoring by the monitored user (via the STOP keyword or the self-service control page) immediately terminates service to that account. Refunds, if any, are processed according to Apple's App Store policies.

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to OwlGuardian at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, to us, or to third parties. You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at support@owlguardian.net.

7. Disclaimers

OwlGuardian uses automated analysis to identify potentially fraudulent email. Automated systems are not perfect. OwlGuardian cannot detect every scam or phishing attempt, and some legitimate messages may be flagged incorrectly. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. You are responsible for exercising judgment about suspicious messages even when OwlGuardian is active.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OwlGuardian and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email to the trusted contact. Continued use of OwlGuardian after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

10. Governing Law; Jurisdiction and Venue

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or relating to these Terms, OwlGuardian, or your use of the service — whether based in contract, tort, statute, or any other legal theory — are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

You and E.D. Doubleboo, Inc. agree that the exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any such dispute or claim shall be the state and federal courts located in Los Angeles County, California. Each party irrevocably (a) consents to the personal jurisdiction of those courts, (b) agrees that those courts are the exclusive venue, and (c) waives any objection to proceeding there, including any objection based on lack of personal jurisdiction or inconvenient forum (forum non conveniens).
